Dr Yanmin Li Attended the 2016 International Workshop on Veterinary Epidemiology On invitation from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (QIA), Korea, Dr Yanmin Li from the OIE/National Reference Laboratory attended the 2016 International Workshop on Veterinary Epidemiology held in QIA, Gimcheon, Republic of Korea on 29th-31st August, 2016. The workshop consists of four sections: I: Epidemiology of animal disease in Korea and epidemiological investigation; II: One health; III. Epidemiology of animal disease in Far East and epidemiological investigation; IV. Epidemiology of animal disease in East Asia and epidemiological investigation. Scientists from China, New Zealand, USA, Kenya, Russia, Mongolia and Korea participated the meeting and gave a presentation focusing on the epidemiology and the control strategy of FMD, AI, BSE, PRRS, East Coast Fever and other animal diseases of veterinary importance. It also discussed the management of epidemiological information and the international collaboration in veterinary epidemiology. Dr Yanmin Li, as an invited speaker, gave a talk entitled “The Current FMD Situation in China”. It introduced the OIE/China National Reference Laboratory for FMD; the reported cases of FMD in China and the genetic analysis of the prevalent FMD virus. In the early afternoon of 30th August, the participants have visited the newly designated Korean OIE Reference Laboratory for FMD and the center for FMD vaccine production in QIA, Gimcheon.
