On September 3-6, 2024, the 27th China-Southeast Asia Action Plan for Foot and Mouth Disease Control (SEACFMD) Meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference was organized by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) South East Asia Sub-Regional Representative Office and the SEACFMD Office, with representatives of SEACFMD member states, WOAH, the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and relevant research institutions or universities in Australia, Japan, Korea, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, etc. About 70 representatives of the WOAH/FAO Reference Laboratory for Foot-and-Mouth Disease attended the meeting. Dr. He Jijun from the National FMD Reference Laboratory, was invited to attend the meeting and made a report on "The advance in FMD Diagnosis by LVRI, China", focusing on the progress of new FMD diagnosis technology and the storage of SAT2 FMD diagnosis technology in Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, CAAS. The purpose of the meeting is to analyze the SEA regional epidemic situation, assess the progressive control (FMD-PCP) process in member states, promote the implementation of the SEACFMD Control Roadmap (2021-2025), and discuss the medium - and long-term planning of SEACFMD under the framework of SEACFMD. Jointly promote the prevention and control of FMD and other TADs, such as ASF, PPR, and LSD. Through this meeting, we learned about the epidemic situation of foot-and-mouth disease in Southeast Asian countries, Mongolia and other neighboring countries, exchanged the epidemic situation, prevention and control measures and effectiveness of FMD in China, recommended the progress of FMD diagnosis technology in China, and provided technical support for the control of FMD and other TADs in Southeast Asia.
