The ONE HEALTH 5-WEEK COURSE organized by Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC) was held at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, from March 2 to April 6, 2025. The program invited 25 participants from 10 countries, including Denmark, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Vietnam, and Nigeria. Dr. Niu Qingli, from LVRI CAAS, attended this program.
The program, fully funded by DFC, covered tuition fees, living allowances, round-trip international airfares, and local transportation and accommodation costs. The course adopted a theory-practice integrated approach, combining lectures from renowned professors, multinational group discussions, and field visits to key Danish institutions. Participants explored critical One Health challenges such as zoonotic disease prevention, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) intervention, and climate-driven health threats. Participants visited the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA), the Statens Serum Institute (SSI), organic pig farms, traditional dairy farms, the Danish Crown slaughterhouse, and Biogas energy facilities. These visits showcased Denmark’s innovative practices in food safety, disease monitoring, and sustainable agriculture.
Prof. Anders Dalsgaard, the program director, remarked, "In an era of climate change and globalization, the One Health approach is key to tackling complex health threats". This training has forged a platform for international knowledge exchange and long-term collaboration. Dr. Niu Qingli and all participants received professional certification upon completing the program, further strengthening China’s capacity in One Health research and global health governance.
