From October 27 to 29, at the invitation of professor Primkul, the First vice president of Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, professor Zheng Haixue, the director of the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute , Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (LVRI, CAAS) led a delegation to visit Kazakh National Agrarian Research University. During the visit, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding under the framework of the “Belt and Road” scientific innovation action plan. The delegation also visited Kazakhstan's only vaccine production company, ANTIGEN, and paid a visit to the Consulate General of China in Almaty, where they were warmly received by Consul Zhang Wei. The 9-member delegation, composed of scientific experts and entrepreneurs from the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, China Agricultural Veterinary Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Lanzhou Shouyan Bio technology Co., Ltd, engaged in in-depth discussions with Kazakh National Agrarian Research University about high-level cooperation and contributions to the quality development of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Together, they held an academic seminar. To jointly promote the implementation of the International Science & Technology Innovation Program of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAASTIP) “Epidemiological Research and Control Technology for Important Zoonotic and Emerging Animal Diseases in Central Asia,” the project leader, Associate professor Yan Hongbin, introduced the content and implementation plan of the CAASTIP project. Both sides reached a consensus on joint implementation of the CAASTIP project, joint laboratory establishment, and talent training. The visit achieved the expected outcomes. The delegation held a meeting with Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, where director Zheng Haixue signed a cooperation memorandum with Vice President Primkul. Vice President Primkul hosted the meeting, welcoming director Zheng and his delegation, and introduced the university's history, organizational structure, responsibilities, and international cooperation efforts. He emphasized that both sides have established long-term cooperation and have carried out effective joint efforts, particularly thanking LVRI, CAAS for its support in the university's project applications and collaborations. He expressed hope for further strengthened cooperation, especially in talent cultivation, project applications, and invited the two enterprises under LVRI, CAAS to work more closely with related Kazakh enterprises to improve vaccine and diagnostic reagent development, production, and application in Kazakhstan. Director Zheng Haixue introduced the LVRI, CAAS and College of Veterinary Medicine, Lanzhou University’s academic development, talent training, and scientific research. Both parties agreed to strengthen joint project applications, scientific research cooperation, and talent exchanges. The delegation held a academic seminar at KazNARU, and signed a cooperation agreement. Liu Xuerong, Vice General Manager of China Agricultural Veterinary Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Li Fengsong, vice leader of Lanzhou Shouyan Bio technology Co., Ltd., visited ANTIGEN, Central Asia's only vaccine production company. The two sides reached a cooperation intention regarding the joint research and development, registration, production, and sales of vaccines and diagnostic reagents.
Liu Xurrong and Li Fengsong visited Antigen Company Director Zheng Haixue and the delegation also visited the Consulate General of China in Almaty, where they highlighted the role of the LVRI, CAAS in leveraging the academic strengths and joint advantages of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Lanzhou University’s to plan and promote cross-border animal disease control, zoonosis prevention, project cooperation, and technical exchanges in countries along the “Belt and Road.” Consul Zhang Wei gave full recognition and high praise to LVRI’s leadership in advancing international agricultural technology cooperation. He emphasized that China-Kazakhstan relations are at their best historical moment, and Kazakhstan welcomes high-quality cooperation from the national to the local level. He encouraged the LVRI, CAAS and Lanzhou University make full use of their academic, geographical, talent, and achievement advantages to deepen high-level scientific exchanges and cooperation with Kazakhstan, and to promote the high-level implementation of existing cooperative projects. He also welcomed organizing experts and scholars from multiple fields, disciplines, and levels to visit Kazakhstan for exchanges and assured the consulate’s full support in facilitating cooperation to build a high-quality “Belt and Road” and a China-Central Asia community of shared destiny. Director Zheng Haixue stated that Kazakhstan, as a key bridge between East and West in Central Asia, presents vast development opportunities and cooperation space. During this visit, the delegation reached a series of agreements on cross-border animal disease and zoonosis prevention, vaccine and diagnostic product registration and sales, innovative cooperation mechanisms, joint laboratory establishment, strengthening exchanges among young researchers, and joint cultivation of master’s and doctoral students. The visit successfully achieved its goals. LVRI, CAAS and Lanzhou University will actively respond to the national call, further promote scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between both parties, and strengthen talent cultivation and academic exchanges.
