Inauguration Ceremony of Establishment of LVRI-PIWet-PIB Joint Lab for Animal Disease Control held in Lanzhou

    During July 26-27, 2016, six polish veterinary experts visited our institute. They are Dr. Wlodzimierz Skorupski, Dr. Krzysztof Niemczuk, Academician Zygmunt Pejsak, Prof. Mirosław Polak, Dr. Anna Szczotka-Bochniarz and Dr. Monika Szymanska-Czerwinska. Dr. Wlodzimierz Skorupski is Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) or General Veterinary Inspectorate of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Poland. Dr. Krzysztof Niemczuk is the general director of National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI,short form in English or PIWet-PIB, short form in Polish). Prof. Zygmunt Pejsak is an academician or member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the head of swine disease department, the head of OIE Reference Labs for classical swine fever (CSF) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), in NVRI. Prof. Mirosław Polak is the head of department of virology and scientific secretary, in NVRI. Dr. Anna Szczotka-Bochniarz is an assistant professor of department of swine diseases. Dr. Monika Szymanska-Czerwinska is an assistant professor, the head of national reference lab for Q fever and chlamydiosis campylobacteriosis and the head of Lab of Serological Diagnosis.

     Polish experts’visit not only strengths the academic exchange but also boosts sino-polish science and technology (S&T) cooperation, especially between both institutes. On the morning of 27th,our general director Hong Yin and NVRI general director Krzysztof Niemczuk signed Letter of Agreement Between Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute (LVRI),Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Lanzhou, China, and National Veterinary Research Institute (PIWet-PIB), Pulawy, Poland, on Establishment of LVRI-PIWet-PIB Joint Lab for Animal Disease Control. Inauguration ceremony was held in the seventh floor meeting room of the new scientific experiment building. At the invitation of our institute, Dr. Liping Fan, project supervisor officer of Department of European Affairs, Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), P.R.C, was present in the ceremony and witnessed the establishment of LVRI-PIWet-PIB Joint Lab. She also delivered congratulations in English. In 2015, Mr. Dongyu Qu, the vice minister of MOA, P.R.C., singed Letter of Agreement on the Cooperation between Ministry of Agriculture, P.R.C. and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Poland, within the Framework of Sino-Polish Agricultural Science and Technology Center. The Joint Lab establishment becomes an important constitute of Sino-Polish Agricultural S&T Cooperation. The establishment of LVRI-PIWet-PIB Joint Lab marks the beginning of a new era in cooperation on animal infectious disease prevention and control between two institutions. It will provide the international cooperation platform for deepening and enhancing the academic and personnel exchanges, and preventing and controlling animal epidemic diseases.

     Inauguration Ceremony of the Establishment of LVRI-PIWet-PIB Joint Lab for Animal Disease Control was held in LVRI, on July 27th, 2016.

     Both parties exchanged views about further strengthening the international cooperation in veterinary research field. General director Hong Ying highly appreciated the progress in animal epidemic disease prevention and control achieved by both institutes in the last 10 years. He also expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of prevention and control of the epidemics, development of cooperation platform, exchanges of personal and cultivation of talents done by both parties. Prof. Yin also emphasized that the successful establishment of the join lab got great support of Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, MOA, P.R.C. and International S&T Cooperation Projects funded by Ministry of Sciences, P.R.C. The goal of the join lab establishment is to enhance cooperation research in the field of epidemiology, rapid diagnostic methods and prevention measures of the important animal infectious diseases. Prof. Yin also expressed his wishes: Firstly, Let our join lab play a key role in setting up platform for further cooperation and raise the level of our cooperation. Let’s transform our joint lab into the research, training and communication centers providing services for China, Poland and even Eastern Europe. Secondly, Let’s strengthen the cultivation of innovative talents and teams. We will raise more money through diversified channels to send scientists each other for training or short-time work in each institute. Lastly, Let’s solve the problems of animal infectious disease prevention and control with joint efforts. Animal infectious disease prevention and control is facing serious challenges worldly and we have more work to do to tackle the problems. We should be dedicated to the health of animals and human beings via the application of modern technologies.

     NVRI General director Dr. Niemczuk fully agreed our general director’s suggestion and also emphasized that LVRI is one of the important cooperative partners of NVRI. He wishes they can take full advantage of the join labs to deepen and extend research cooperation with experts in Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in the field mentioned above. Polish CVO Dr. Skorupski said that the establishment of joint lab will facilitate to let each other know the epidemiological situation of the diseases in time and benefit the disease prevention and control of both countries. He wishes the LVRI-PIWet-PIB Joint Lab will exert the important role in animal epidemic disease prevention and control and guarantee the health of animals and human beings.

     Finally, Prof. Jianxun Luo, the vice director of LVRI and Prof. Zygmunt Pejsak discussed the priority researches in the field of CSF, African Swine Fever, PRRS, Porcine Circoviruses and chlamydiosis.

     Prof. Jianxun Luo, the vice director of LVRI and Prof. Zygmunt Pejsak discussed the priority researches about CSF, ASF, PRRS, PCV and chlamydiosis.
