The kick-off meeting of the key project of strategic cooperation "Cooperative Creation and Application Study of New Products for Prevention and Control of Major Transboundary Animal Diseases"was held in Lanzhou

  In order to promote theexecuting of the key project of strategic cooperationon international scientific and technological innovation under the state key research and development plan " Cooperative Creation and Application Study of New Products for Prevention and Control of Major Transboundary Animal Diseases"which was granted to Dr Li,Yanmin, the deputy director of the Chinese National / OIE Foot and Mouth Disease Reference Laboratory, a kick-off meetingwas held successfully in Lanzhou from November 15th to 16th, 2017.

  Attended the meeting were MsZhou, Lei,deputy director of International Cooperation Department of Science and Technology of Gansu Province;DrYin, Hong, director of The Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute , Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences;Prof. Hua,Qunyi, Project Consultant Expert,director of the Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Technology Center, CIQ Shenzhen;Prof. Hu Yonghao, Associate Dean, The College of Animal Medicine of Gansu Agricultural University;DrZhang, Zhidong, talent of "Thousand Talents Program",professor of Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Prof. GulnazIlgekbayeva and AbishovAbdikalyk, Department of Biological Safety, Kazakh National Agrarian University. There were in total of 35 participants.The meeting was opened by DrLuo,Jianxun, deputy director of Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

  On behalf of Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Director Yin stressed that this project was the first international cooperation project between our institute and Kazakh funded bythe Ministry of Science and Technology of China,with our great efforts, he hopes that through the conducting of this project which is under the "One Belt and One Road" strategy advocated by General Secretary Xi, it will write a new chapter for our international cooperation and further deepen the friendship between China and Kazakhstan.

  Project Leader DrLi, Yanmin, Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences reported the project research content, project management and implementation mechanism. Professor GulnazIlgekbayevagave a speech on Kazak State University of Agriculture and introduced the research tasks undertaken in the project fromKazakhstan. She expressed their pleasure to cooperate with Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute. China has taken the lead in international prevention and treatment of the major animal diseases such as FMD and PPR. The cooperation in this project will further enhance the prevention and control of these diseases in Kazakhstan. Afterwards, the project consultantsProf. Hua,Qunyi, Prof. Hu,Yonghao and Prof Zhang, Zhidongprovided valuable suggestions for the implementation of the project. MsZhou, Lei and Gao, Lei gave a speech of the experience of management and implementation of the project in Gansu province and the policy and management of the budget of the project, respectively at the meeting.
