Lanzhou delegation led by Prof. Jianxun Luo visited National Veterinary Research Institute, Poland, for academic exchange

  During June 24-28, 2018, on the invitation of Mr. Krzysztof Niemczuk, general director of National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI or PIWeT-PIB in Polish), Pulawy, Poland, Prof. Jianxun Luo, Prof. Jie Zhang, Pof. Yongsheng Liu, Prof. Yuefeng Chu and associate Prof. Zhijie Liu visited NVRI and held academic exchanges. Our visit enhanced the development of LVRI-PIWet-PIB JOINT LAB FOR ANIMAL DISEASE CONTROL which was established in June, 2016.

  During our visit, under the host of Prof. Krzysztof Smietanka, Head of Department (Dep.) of Poultry Disease and Dep. of Epidemiology and Risk Assessment, our scientists met with deans and scientific delegates from Dep. of Swine Disease, Dep. of Cattle and Sheep Disease, Dep. of Poultry Disease, Dep. of Fish Disease, Dep. of Hygiene of Food of Animal Origin, Dep. of Microbiology, Dep. of Virology and Dep. of Parasitology. Scientists on both sides discussed the progress of the projects applied together in 2017 and made a plan for the new project application in 2018. Prof. Krzysztof Smietanka introduced the current situation of NVRI and told visitors a new Dep. of Research of Omics has established according to the demand of recent years development. Up to now, there are 20 departments and 580 staff in NVRI, Poland. Prof. Jianxun Luo and associate Prof. introduced the organization and development of Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute (LVRI) and concluded the academic exchanges, joint application of projects and papers jointly published in the past two years since the establishment of LVRI-PIWet-PIB joint Lab. A plan about S&T cooperation in 2018 was also described. Up to now, there are 32 person time for academic exchange between LVRI,Lanzhou and NVRI, Pulawy, Poland.

  Under the host of Dr. Artur Rzezutka, Head of Department of Food and Environmental Virology,Prof. Yongsheng Liu delivered a lecture titled “Haemophilus Parasuis: Current Situation and Control in China”and Prof. Yunfeng Chu gave a lecture titled“Ruminant Mycoplasma Research at the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, CAAS”. Scientists on both sides discussed the bottleneck problems of the research of Haemophilus Parasuis and Ruminant Mycoplasma. 

  26-27,June,Academician Zygmunt Pejsak,dean of Dep. of Swine Disease of NVRI,organized the 23rd international conference of swine disease in Pulawy. The theme of the conference is “Infectious Disease---a Severe Threat for Swine Production in Poland”. Experts delivered lectures about the severe influence caused by African Swine Fever, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndromes (or Swine blue ear disease), Porcine Circovirus and Swine Bacterial Disease. Biosecurity is highly emphasized for the sustainable development of pig production in Poland and even in the world. Delegates from LVRI were present at the conference and discussed the prevention and control strategies of the related infectious disease with the experts.
